#FoodieFriDIY no.56 Welcome Home Edition

This should be the “I´m back in the USA” post, and I am, but it just doesn´t feel right as I type up this post.
As the weeks that led up to and came after our move to the US built up in my head, I had this vague notion of time and what I would be doing to fill it up. Mostly, it involved a lot of blogging tasks I haven´t had time to do this year right before the move and spending time with friends, family, and getting a move on with things like baking when we got back.
My papers somehow graded themselves. My suitcases were sitting neatly in the corner of my bedroom. And apparently I was so successful at blogging job hunting wasn´t even on the menu.
Flash forward and scenes of Christine scrunching her eyes closed as she chucked ¨chipotle powder¨knowing that the new tenants wouldn´t know what to do with it, or getting to the point where I was ready to discard every single article of clothing in my closet just so I could stop agonizing over which sweater to toss in order to come in under the airline´s weight restrictions and I really had no time to test recipes (except for some corn which gave me third-degree burns and is stuck in a computer I can´t access until I have an American plug).
To that you might say that I was naïve to think I´d have so much time.
And we won´t go into as many details, but the basement, aka-our home for a few months as we get set up, flooded and needs to be gutted. I´ve started to look for a job. And the car we´re driving kind of scares me with it´s oil and engine light constantly lit up. So, I´m looking for a slightly more modern vehicle.
Crazy times right?
Now, I am back in the US, which is exactly what my family wanted. So, as crazy as things get, I´m actually just rolling with the punches and have this big sloppy grin on my face most of the time.
And this week, even though my post was far from being that post, that, YAHOO, WE´RE BACK AND WE´RE SO EXCITED WE PAINTED OUR FACES WITH LITTLE AMERICAN FLAGS post, we are still back. So my favorites at #FoodieFriDIY are a self-imposed Welcome Back to the USA party!
