Hi guys!

It’s so good to be home, both real home and blog home. (Does your blog feel like your home to you, too?) Last week, we got final word that there would indeed be a 5 day break due to standardized testing (or some Chinese equivalent). Since we are foreign teachers in a private program, we got time off – the whole department did actually, not just the foreign teachers.

So, in a moment of “we’re leaving in a month and we haven’t seen anywhere in China” panick, my husband graciously took care of the travel plans that usually overwhelm me, and we bought tickets for a Friday flight…on Thursday. I almost didn’t make it on the plane when, at 2 AM, I decided it was time to make a visit to the ER, and was whisked downtown by a night taxi. I got lucky and found a return ride with no problem and was home by 3:30. (FYI, it was a stomach bug caused by eating the local food.)

So, when our airport taxi driver arrived at 6, I wasn’t really ready, but I was able to board the plane with my family. And then we had 3 glorious, sunny (blue skied) days in Beijing. Spoiler: I have a post almost ready to go with lots of pics.

For now, I’ll leave you with a few of my favorites this week. Dig in, and enjoy!

And finally, before I leave you with the link up, please take a quick peak at some of the (not so many) rules we have that help keep things running smoothly week after week:

1. Link up your favorite recipes and projects from your own blog. You may use round ups but please make sure they include links to recipes or tutorials. We would appreciate you linking up different posts week to week …we reserve the right to delete duplicates.2. We think you are all awesome and love meeting new bloggers (and more awesome people) each week. We´d love if you spread the word about the party in some way, shape, or form!

3. We´re not a pushy group…no real requirements (except that you be a recipe or DIY blogger), but if you can, try to visit another link or two and leave a thoughtful comment. Give someone a shout out on social media. Use the hashtag #FoodieFridaysDIY…we’re trying to grow a community for all of us, and it’s always nice to make new friends.

4. If you’d like to include our button on your sidebar or your link party page, or even a link back on the individual post you linked up, we’d love it, but again, there is no requirement to do so.
